Debuting a new series for the year 2013. I want to introduce to you some pretty great women who are in my life. These are women who are faithfully following God in the callings that He has placed on their lives.
I am inspired by people like Mother Teresa and Katie Davis. They make me want to love God the way that they do. They make me want to give up everything in my life and serve the poorest or the poor halfway around the world. They make me want to move to Africa and love the people there and adopt little babies with no families and bring them into my home. God is definitely calling some people to this life, and if He's calling you to that you must be obedient and GO......but for many people their lives will never look like this. For many God is calling you to work hard and take tests and suffer through pop quizzes and be excellent in your studies. For others He may be asking you to be an honest employee who loves and serves her co-workers well. For some He may be telling you to take that passion that you have for the homeless or the elderly or children with special needs or single moms and run with it.....to stop waiting for Him to confirm it in your heart again and start ministering. For many He's called you to love your husbands like crazy day in and day out whether you feel like it or not. He may be calling you to change diapers and cook and clean and fold laundry...doing it all with joy while patiently raising precious little children.
Everyone has a different purpose in this world. All of our roles look different from one another. As women we compare ourselves to other women far too much. We measure our lives against the lives of others. So many times this hinders us from fulfilling God's purpose for us in our own lives. Each of us were given our own unique giftings and passions. We all have different spheres of influences. We each have the capacity to impact a unique set of people in our lives. We all have the potential to be world changers......to change the world around us.
So...my plan for this year is to introduce you to 13 World Changing Women in 2013!
Over the course of the year, you will hear from 13 ladies who are being used to change the world around them. For some of them, they are literally on the other side of the world. Others are just a quick drive away from me. All of them are being used by God to do big things. I hope that you will be encouraged by their stories and find something familiar in their lives...something you can identify with. You will hear from all ages and seasons of life. You will hear from women who work outside the home and from stay-at-home moms. You will hear from women who have a heart for adoption or children with special needs or the homeless or prostitutes or students.... As much I love all of these awesome people, I have to let you in on a little secret (and I know they would agree). They are just ordinary people. The thing that sets them apart from others is that they have said "yes" to God. They are ordinary women who have an extraodinary God. They are doing ordinary and mundane things at times. Their lives are not always a thrilling adventure, but they have an extraordinary faith in the midst of the ordinary. They are not just going through the motions and living for retirement. They are living extra, living fully here and now, in the ordinary.
Stay tuned for my first extra + ordinary friend, Mallory. She will be sharing about the love that God has given her for children with special needs and how she is using her love for ballet to touch their lives. You will not want to miss her story!
