lately: my life in a nutshell

lately....

what i'm reading:
ready to start reading two new books I got for Christmas
Outcasts United by Warren St John--- the story about a refugee youth soccer team, their coach, and the town where they live and play.  i actually got to spend a weekend in this town about a month ago.  located a short 2 hours away from me, it is the site where 2500 refugees are resettled yearly.
and
A Crime So Monstrous by Ben Skinner---an account of stories from around the world of modern day slavery

what i'm drinking:
eggnog and more eggnog
freshly roasted coffee from Buona Caffe.  i visited them at the roaster on my lunch break the other day to pick up some coffee (fair trade, i might add) that had just been roasted that morning.  i can't wait for their actual storefront to open soon!!  stop by if you are in town.

what i'm watching:
Home Alone-- of course.
The Holiday--- i think i've seen that movie a gazillion times.  it is one of my all-time favorite movies.  i mean, Christmastime, English countryside, AND Jude Law all in one movie.  pretty great!
my obsession with Downton Abbey continues....so lots of reruns.  i am counting down
the days until season 3 begins!!
Trade of Innocents:  a movie that sheds light on the horrors of human trafficking. watch it.

what i'm listening to:
Sufjan Stevens Christmas album
Ray Lamontagne. i think i have all his albums on permanent repeat on my ipod.  i never get tired of hearing him sing.  i could just listen to him forever and ever and ever....

what i'm making:
curtains and bumpers and crib skirts, oh my.  i'm working on the custom bedding
and curtains for my nephew's nursery.  the end is in sight.  i'll have to post some pics of the
finished room.

styles i'm loving:
sparkle and shine.  i absolutely love all the glitter and sequins out there right now.  so perfect for holiday celebrations.
tribal print clothing and accessories
fur
pattern and print mixing
blazers
fringe

what i'm excited about:
plane tickets to Peru in the spring have been purchased!  i'm so excited to get to visit friends there and serve alongside them in their medical clinic and to visit Machu Picchu!!
continuing into the new year on this awesome journey that Noonday has turned out to be!
meeting my nephew in February!!
