Sad day. Happy day. And, sappy day. Today I'm getting a new neighbor. Yay!!! My good friend Sharon is moving from across town to less than a mile away from me. I look forward to seeing lots more of her and her precious little girl Joanna now. Sharon and I were best friends in our former lives (maybe even sisters). From the time we met we just "clicked" and got along great. We are the same in so many ways and have so much fun together. I have learned a lot about crafting, sewing, cooking--basically all things domestic from her. I'm glad to have her so nearby now so that hopefully we can hang out more frequently. She and her family are moving into another of my really good friends houses..... which means that Rachel is moving away--all the way to Birmingham. :( sniff sniff. So, it's a little bittersweet for me. Rachel and I have been friends now for 7 years. Wow. I can't believe it's been that long. I met her when she was just starting PT school and I was helping lead the student Bible Study for her class. We became fast friends, after I weaseled my way into her life like any good person in student ministry should. Soon we had a standing Wednesday lunch date at any one of our staple lunch spots. We have shared many fun, silly, and special times over the years. Rachel's friendship has meant so much to me, and her example of a faithful wife, mother, and daughter of the King is encouraging. I was able to watch her grow as a physical therapist who was attentive to the physical and spiritual needs of her patients. We shared the experience of serving together in medical missions in Mexico (thankfully she minored in Spanish). I was there through the meeting and dating of her husband and honored to stand beside her on her wedding day. Over the years, we've kept our Wednesday dates. They have morphed into walks around the block, hanging out at the house playing with and watching little Samuel grow up before our very eyes, chats about life in between naps, and now welcoming new little baby Caroline.
And now, for a little trip down memory lane.....(Rachel please don't hate me for some of these. They go waaayyy back)
Sorry, I don't have any more current pics, but my computer decided to eat them.
I will miss having you live in the same town as me, for sure, but I know it's not really goodbye.
